Movies have been around for a long time but in the twenty’s and thirty’s they quickly boomed. Ever since they have slowly developed into what we now know today. The boom occured during the wars due to propaganda against the german’s. Nowadays they have ratings on the movies to tell us what is appropriate for what age group but they have not always been this way. They used to be more leniant for what was what, but what has provoked this change?

“Treat your inferior as you would wish your superior to treat you.” Exerpt from “Slaves”

This is something every one should live by for more then one reason. It is because at any point you will be the inferior once more, and you would not enjoy if they beat and harassed you as if you were an animal. If one were to live in peace with all no bias, no cruelty, no hate, everything would be accomplished with satisfaction instead of fear of not doing well enough. Error is not feared but as a lesson that is to be learned to get better.

Overall I enjoyed this story’s sense of togetherness. No matter what you are a slave to you should be treated as if you were a man, not as an animal. “Remember, if you please, That the man you call slave sprang from the same seed, enjoys the same daylight, breathes like you, lives like you, dies like you.”

The Execution of Tropmann

“But I listened to all that talk as though in a dream. I felt very tired- and I was not the only one to feel like that. They all looked tired, though they all felt relieved, just as if a load had been removed from their backs. But not one of us, absolutely no one looked like a man who realized that he had been present at the performance of an act of social justice: every one tried to turn away in spirit and, as it were, shake off the responsibility for this murder.” Passage from “The Execution of Tropmann”

Through this statement I can feel his confusion and want to run away from this. I would feel the same way seeing someone die would feel surreal, dream like, and also make me feel sick with a burden of this unsightly predicament. He does not want this execution but there is no stopping of it he has a sense of helplessness. He wants it to just happen, but in wanting this it seems to be prolonged.

I enjoyed this story the way he described all the vivid details of the night, I felt as if I were right next to him. The way he built everything up kept me wanting to read on and on until the story was through and even then I wished there was more. However, I don’t know how I feel about his opinion towards capital punishment. I am a man that is for capital punishment, I just feel that if one commits such a heinous act he does not deserve the life he has, since he has no regard for any other. One who is so sick to commit a crime like this will not feel such regret or remorse of what he has done like you and I would feel, these thoughts of his crime would only make him a sense of sick enjoyment. I would not enjoy watching it publicly for two reasons, I would not find excitement in this, and also this criminal wants people to know of his crimes and will bask in his glory at an execution.

This is an arguement that is pro choice. It is arguing not where life starts, but where biological independence begins. It is arguing the fact of since it is not its own independant entity it does not have the same rights as a human being. Saying how pro life tries to say that abortion is infantcide which technically it is not and infant but a life within another life. Another thing it discusses is how its directly connected to the mothers diet and lives off of her. Another point is that if the mother drinks or smokes with the baby inside her it is not considered a type of child abuse, so therefor it still is not considered a child.

Walking

This essay really changed my view on walking. The author really made me feel like getting up out of my chair and going for a walk after I had finished. I’ve never seen walking as a way of relaxing and see it as absorbing the beauty of the world, he makes it sound so euphoric, so tempting to go lose yourself in the woods and not have a care in the world. I agree with his philosophy about how staying inside trying to learn things is not as effective as going out experiencing the world around you, because you really cant say you understand things until you have actually seen them happen. I really enjoyed reading this essay and I actually about to go walk, let all my problems melt away in the awe of nature’s beauty.

How to stay sober on a saturday night

There is alot of things you can do on a saturday night without drinking any alchoholic beverages or drugs. Persay there is a party that is going to happen that night and you want to take your mind off it so you dont go. What you could do is grab a couple of friend’s or your boyfriend/girlfriend(best if they are not alchoholics). You could just find a good movie that is showing and simply go see it, or if your like me you could always just snoop around your movie collection find a good oldie, make some popcorn, and chow down while watching it. Have no friends? you could also just sit around playing video games all night to take your mind off that party. You could always take the risky route of actually going to the party and not drink and just have a good time making fun of all the really drunk people, and if you want you can bring a sharpie. I know this one sounds like a good time but all that homework you have been putting off for sunday could wait…. be done on saturday?! (blasphemy). Last but not least you could always go to bed early. simple right? Well thats all the steps I can give you for a fun night without drinking other than one last thing, drinking is not all there is to having a good time; freinds, family, BF/GF like you for who you are, even when your not drunk so why not have a good time that you can actually remeber for once?

Hateful things

Hateful things indeed one of the things that I find hateful is this story. From the first couple sentences I got bored with his repetition and his pompousness. This essay was pitiful and does not belong in a book of this caliber, and for whoever wrote it should never pick up a pen again, they should just go to a shrink and talk about the things they hate, instead of having us read it.

Traveling blog

The library has a quiet, serene atmosphere. It fairly lighted and has all sorts of décor, too bad it’s a place for mutiple things which all are boring; studying, researching, and being quiet. The people here are not very talkative and seem very deep in thought, or lost in what ever they may be doing. However, work somehow manages to get done here, which is the only plus that I know of for this horid place.
